Credit Reports

Credit is a very important part of everyone's life. Most of our financial decisions affect our credit report and credit score. Credit is often affected when we fill out an application that involves our social security number. This includes applications we are already aware of, like getting a loan for a home or car. Credit is also affected when we order a new cell phone service or when renting a new apartment. These types of applications cause an inquiry onto your credit report, which could negatively impact your credit score.

We recommend checking your credit report at least twice a year to ensure that it is accurate and up to date. And since TransUnion, Equifax and Experian may carry different credit information on you, it is a good idea to check all three credit bureaus. Negative, inaccurate credit information could cost you in the form of higher interest rates, and declined credit card offers. What's more, identity theft, the largest growing crime in America, could be detected early simply by checking your credit more often.
